Bernhard Grzimek was a German veterinarian, zoologist, animal rights activist, and behavioral scientist, long-time director of Frankfurt Zoo, wildlife filmmaker, author and editor of animal books, an encyclopedia of the animal kingdom named after him, and president of the Frankfurt Zoological Society.
